Best fuel credit cards we compare
Fuel cards earn most at one oil company's outlets (IndianOil, HPCL or BPCL), so pick the brand you fill up at. Monthly caps matter more than the headline rate.

Questions people ask
Which fuel card gives the most on fuel?
Among the cards we compare, the IndianOil RBL Bank XTRA Credit Card from RBL Bank (co-brand with IndianOil) is first, at 7.5% value back on fuel. Rates are capped on most cards, so check the monthly limit on its page.
Is there a lifetime free option?
No. Every fuel card we compare charges a joining or annual fee, though most waive it if you spend enough in a year.
Which of these cards work on UPI?
IndianOil RBL Bank XTRA Credit Card, BPCL SBI Card OCTANE, IDFC FIRST Bank HPCL FIRST Power+ Credit Card, IndianOil Axis Bank Credit Card, IDFC FIRST Bank HPCL FIRST Power Credit Card. Only RuPay credit cards can be linked to UPI apps, and UPI rewards are often lower than card rewards.
How did you check these numbers?
Every fee, reward rate and eligibility rule comes from the issuing bank's official pages and terms, last verified 19 Oct 2026. Where a bank doesn't publish what a reward point is worth, we leave the rate blank instead of guessing.
Which fuel credit card works at HPCL, IndianOil or BPCL pumps?
Each fuel card pays its top rate at one oil company only. IDFC FIRST Power and Power+ pay it at HPCL, IndianOil Axis and IndianOil RBL XTRA at IndianOil (RBL's at selected outlets), and BPCL SBI Card OCTANE at BPCL. Pick the brand you fill up at most; the table above ranks the cards by the rate at their own pumps.
Can I use a fuel credit card at all petrol pumps?
The card works at any pump, but the high rate doesn't. IDFC FIRST Power, Power+ and BPCL SBI OCTANE give no points at all on fuel from other brands. If you fill up at different brands, look for a surcharge waiver that covers every pump: Amazon Pay ICICI, for example, waives the 1% surcharge at all pumps with no cap stated, though it earns nothing on fuel.
How much can a fuel credit card save me in a month?
Less than the headline rate suggests, because fuel rewards are capped. IndianOil Axis pays 4% on up to ₹5,000 of fuel a month (about ₹200), IDFC FIRST Power 3.5% on up to ₹5,000 a statement cycle (₹175), Power+ 5% on up to ₹12,000 (₹600) and BPCL SBI OCTANE 6.25% on up to ₹10,000 a cycle (₹625 of free fuel). IndianOil RBL XTRA's 2,000 fuel points a month are worth ₹1,000 only if converted to IndianOil XTRAREWARDS; on RBL's own portal they're worth ₹200.
What is a fuel surcharge waiver?
Card payments at petrol pumps carry a 1% surcharge, and a waiver refunds it within limits. Each card sets a payment range and a cap: IndianOil Axis refunds it on ₹400 to ₹4,000 payments, up to ₹50 a statement cycle; IndianOil RBL XTRA on ₹500 to ₹4,000, up to ₹200 a month; and OCTANE at BPCL pumps on swipes up to ₹4,000, up to ₹100 a month, but not on UPI. IDFC FIRST Power and Power+ have no waiver and pay higher points instead.
