Best credit cards against a fixed deposit we compare

A secured card is issued against a fixed deposit, so the bank needs no income proof or credit history. The FD keeps earning interest; the limit is usually most of the FD. It's the usual way to build a CIBIL score from scratch.

Questions people ask

Which against FD card gives the most on everyday spends?

Among the cards we compare, the Kotak811 Dream Different Credit Card from Kotak Mahindra Bank is first, at 2% value back on everyday spends. Rates are capped on most cards, so check the monthly limit on its page.

Is there a lifetime free option?

Yes: IDFC FIRST WOW! Credit Card, Suryoday SFB Stable Money RuPay Platinum Credit Card, ICICI Bank Instant Platinum Credit Card. They charge no joining or annual fee on the bank's own terms.

Which of these cards work on UPI?

Kotak811 Dream Different Credit Card, Kotak811 super.money Credit Card, Suryoday SFB Stable Money RuPay Platinum Credit Card. Only RuPay credit cards can be linked to UPI apps, and UPI rewards are often lower than card rewards.

How did you check these numbers?

Every fee, reward rate and eligibility rule comes from the issuing bank's official pages and terms, last verified 20 Oct 2026. Where a bank doesn't publish what a reward point is worth, we leave the rate blank instead of guessing.

What is a credit card against FD?

It's a secured credit card: you keep a fixed deposit with the bank, the bank holds a lien on it, and your credit limit is set as a share of the deposit. The FD stays yours and keeps earning interest at its booked rate. Axis and Kotak811 Dream Different don't let you close it while the card is open; with Kotak811 super.money you can withdraw it, but your limit falls with it. Because the deposit covers the bank, Axis, IDFC FIRST, Suryoday and Kotak (for Dream Different) say no income proof is needed.

What is the minimum FD amount for a credit card?

It depends on the bank. Among the cards we compare, Kotak811 super.money starts at ₹1,000, Kotak811 Dream Different at ₹10,000 (for a term of at least 181 days), Axis MY Zone Easy at ₹15,000, IDFC FIRST WOW! at ₹20,000 and ICICI Instant Platinum at ₹50,000 (open at least 180 days and set to auto-renew). Stable Money's Suryoday card needs ₹50,000 for a physical card. Most of these banks exclude tax-saver FDs and want the deposit in your own name.

How much credit limit do I get on an FD credit card?

A share of the deposit, set by the bank: up to 100% at IDFC FIRST (WOW!), up to 90% at ICICI, Kotak and Suryoday, and up to 80–90% at Axis. So a ₹50,000 FD at 90% gives a limit of up to ₹45,000. Kotak's general card terms say 80% for Dream Different, lower than its product page, so your limit may differ. Kotak lets you link more FDs to raise the limit.

Is a credit card against FD good?

It's a sound first card if you can't show income or have no credit history: the deposit keeps earning interest, and paying the full bill every month builds a credit history. It's still credit, though. Unpaid dues attract the card's interest, far above what the FD earns (up to 3.75% a month on the ICICI and Kotak Dream Different cards), and the bank can use the FD to recover them: Suryoday can break it after 60 days overdue or once dues reach 98% of the deposit, and Kotak can use the super.money FD after 60 days unpaid. Approval is at the bank's discretion even with a deposit.
