Questions people ask
What documents are needed for a personal loan?
Identity and address proof (PAN is required; Aadhaar, passport, voter ID or driving licence for address), income proof (salary slips and bank statements for salaried people; bank statements, ITRs and business proof for the self-employed) and sometimes a photo. Digital lenders usually do KYC by Aadhaar OTP or video and read bank statements online.
Can I get a personal loan without a salary slip?
Yes, at lenders that check income from bank statements or digitally. See personal loans without a salary slip for the lenders whose own pages say so.
Which documents do self-employed people need?
Usually PAN, Aadhaar, 6 to 12 months of business bank statements, and often one or two years of ITRs and business proof such as GST registration or a shop licence. Some app lenders accept bank statements alone.
Is it safe to upload documents to a loan app?
Only to a lender or app that names the regulated bank or NBFC lending to you and appears in RBI's directory of digital lending apps. Never share OTPs or net banking passwords, and don't give an app access to your contacts or photos.
