Questions people ask
Which bills and utilities card gives the most on bills and utilities?
Among the cards we compare, the HSBC Live+ Credit Card from HSBC is first, at 10% value back on bills and utilities. Rates are capped on most cards, so check the monthly limit on its page.
Is there a lifetime free option?
Yes: CheQ AU Credit Card (AU Small Finance Bank), Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card, Roarbank UPI Credit Card (Unity Small Finance Bank). They charge no joining or annual fee on the bank's own terms.
Which of these cards work on UPI?
PhonePe SBI Card SELECT BLACK, CheQ AU Credit Card (AU Small Finance Bank), IDFC FIRST Bank HPCL FIRST Power+ Credit Card, PhonePe SBI Card PURPLE, IDFC FIRST Bank HPCL FIRST Power Credit Card, Kotak811 Dream Different Credit Card, Tata Neu Infinity HDFC Bank Credit Card, Roarbank UPI Credit Card (Unity Small Finance Bank), Tata Neu Plus HDFC Bank Credit Card. Only RuPay credit cards can be linked to UPI apps, and UPI rewards are often lower than card rewards.
How did you check these numbers?
Every fee, reward rate and eligibility rule comes from the issuing bank's official pages and terms, last verified 20 Oct 2026. Where a bank doesn't publish what a reward point is worth, we leave the rate blank instead of guessing.
Which credit card gives rewards on rent payment?
Few do. Most cards we compare give nothing on rent, and some charge for it: HSBC Live+ and HSBC RuPay Cashback add a 1% fee on rent payments. IDFC FIRST's cards are an exception; IDFC FIRST Select and Wealth, for example, still earn 3 points per ₹200 (about 0.375%) on rent. A RuPay card on UPI can't pay a landlord's personal UPI ID, because credit cards on UPI pay merchants only.
Which credit card is good for electricity and other utility bills?
Check where the card pays and the cap. For example, HSBC Live+ pays 10% on utility bills within a ₹1,200 monthly cap shared with dining and groceries; IDFC FIRST Power+ pays 5% on up to ₹2,000 of groceries and utilities a statement cycle; Tata Neu Plus pays 1%, up to 2,000 NeuCoins a month; Amazon Pay ICICI pays 2%, but only on bills paid through Amazon Pay. Many cards pay nothing on utilities, including CASHBACK SBI, Flipkart Axis, Kiwi and Uni GoldX.
Does it matter which app I use to pay bills?
On some cards, yes. Amazon Pay ICICI pays 2% only when you pay through Amazon Pay; utility bills paid elsewhere earn nothing. CheQ pays its top rate only on bills paid inside the CheQ app and nothing on bills paid outside it. HDFC cards such as Millennia and Regalia Gold give nothing on education fees paid through third-party apps like CRED or Cheq, though paying the school or college directly still earns.
Is there a limit on rewards for bill payments?
Usually, yes. For example, Kotak League Platinum gives no points on utility and telecom spends above ₹35,000 in a statement cycle, ICICI Coral RuPay earns points on only the first ₹40,000 of utility spend a cycle, Tata Neu Plus caps utility NeuCoins at 2,000 a month, and HSBC Live+'s 10% on bills shares a ₹1,200 monthly cap with dining and groceries. Check the cap before you put a large bill on the card.
Last verified 20 Oct 2026 on each issuer's official page. Fees and rewards change; check the issuer's terms before you apply.
