A first loan is usually smaller and may cost more than one at a high score, so expect an offer nearer the top of a lender's rate range. Rules are from each lender's own pages, in our words; the lender decides on your application. Ranked by the lowest published starting rate. We compare lenders available through our partner; ranking never depends on what we earn.

Questions people ask
Can I get a personal loan with no CIBIL score?
Some lenders say they will consider it. KreditBee, lendingplate, Finnable and Hero FinCorp say on their own pages that they consider people who are new to credit. The lender decides on your application, and approval isn't guaranteed.
Which lenders give a first loan with no credit history?
Of the lenders we compare, KreditBee, lendingplate, Finnable and Hero FinCorp say they consider applicants with no credit history. The table above shows each lender's own wording, rate, fee and amount, ranked by lowest published starting rate.
What is a -1 or NH CIBIL score?
If you have no credit history, you may not get a number at all. Experian, for example, shows -1 when you are new to credit and 0 when there hasn't been enough activity in the last three years, and says this doesn't mean you have a poor score. Our CIBIL checklist explains the bureaus and the 300–900 range.
What do lenders check if I have no credit history?
KreditBee, lendingplate and Hero FinCorp say they check income from your bank statements or bank data. Other lenders in the table list their own checks on their pages; open a lender's review for its documents.
How can I build a credit history?
Our CIBIL checklist suggests a secured credit card against a fixed deposit if you have a thin file or no history, using it a little every month and paying in full. A small first loan repaid on time also adds to your history. See the CIBIL checklist for the steps.
