Questions people ask
Why does Premier show a % return and TravelOne doesn't?
HSBC gives Premier cardholders a fixed ₹1 a point when they redeem for Apple products or for flights and hotels on HSBC's Travel with Points portal, so Premier's 3 points per ₹100 is about 3%. HSBC doesn't fix a rupee value for TravelOne points: you can move them 1:1 to airline and hotel programmes or redeem them in HSBC's app, but HSBC doesn't say what a point is worth there, so we don't convert them to %.
Which earns more airline miles?
Both transfer 1:1 to 11 airline programmes (including Air India, Singapore Airlines and British Airways) and 4 hotel programmes. Premier earns 3 points per ₹100 on most spends, so 3 miles. TravelOne earns 4 per ₹100 on airlines, travel booking sites and foreign-currency spends and 2 per ₹100 elsewhere, plus 10,000 bonus points at ₹12 lakh of yearly spend. On everyday spends Premier earns more, and on travel bookings TravelOne earns more. Premier also earns on utility bills, insurance, rent and wallet loads up to ₹1 lakh a month combined; TravelOne earns nothing on them.
Who can get each card?
TravelOne is open to apply: salaried applicants aged 18 to 65 with ₹6 lakh a year, or self-employed aged 25 to 65 with ₹12 lakh, living in one of HSBC's 21 listed cities. The Premier card needs an HSBC Premier relationship, for example a quarterly relationship balance of ₹50 lakh (₹40 lakh for Premier accounts opened before 1 Jan 2026) or a ₹3 lakh monthly salary paid into an HSBC salary account, in the same 21 cities. You apply at a branch or through Premier PhoneBanking.
What do they cost?
Premier charges a one-time ₹12,000 joining fee, and its ₹20,000 annual fee is waived every year while you stay a qualified Premier customer. TravelOne charges ₹4,999 to join, not waived, and ₹4,999 a year, refunded in full if you spend more than ₹8 lakh in the card year. HSBC's pages disagree on whether TravelOne's annual fee also applies in year one, so ask HSBC.
